One Day Closer to Home! / An embarrassing moment at the market!

I really like that thought, its like the glass half empty , half full thing. Besides that its true, we realize and accept that its not about us or our time line, its all about Nastya. Its amazing how shelfish one can get. Even the fact that I haven't been behind the wheel of a vehicle for about a month now as wore on me. The other night I looked at the translator and told her how hard it was to depend on everyone else for everything. It has all been a lesson to learn in one way or another.
As far as an update we have a bit of free time this am as Nastya is off with a lady for a medical check up and also looking to get Nastya to write a letter of intent that will go to court on Thurs. I would say that things at this point do look generally good as we have had more one on one time with her recently. As you can imagine until court is done nothing is official. I would love to believe this is just a formality, but the realist side of me knows nothing is a given here in Ukraine. I'm not being negative just being real and I believe this is a much safer approach right now for us to take.
Well I must tell you about our trip to the market. First of all before going in I checked to see if I had enough Greevna's on me. I may have the spelling wrong but anyway this is the currency her in Ukraine. I kind of new I had a certain amount and Debbie had a bit as well so no problem?? Anyway we picked up what we needed for supper and a couple of odds and ends, and by the way Nastya has a way of sneaking a few extra items in the cart when your not looking. She even hides them under other things if she can. Anyway we're at the checkout, and at these checkouts things move fast. Its not a huge market but very busy, with 5 checkouts that are all going pretty steady so you get the visual right? Anyway things go through as usual , I did see a couple of items I didn't recall, gum, yogurt, etc, but still figured we'ed be fine. Wrong, the total came up to just over 90 Greevnas, I quickly asked Debbie for what she had and at that point my heart began to race. You see it had already been rung in and all she wanted from us was the money. I dumped the change we had and she started to count it out. The whole time she is gently shaking her head, she then calls for a superviser and she gets her involved. At this point I reached in my inner pocket and waved a Ben Franklen in front of her nose to assure we had money just no greevnas. She hardly acknowledged Ben at all and went back to the task at hand. They started taking items back and making adjustments, as you can only imagine the line is starting to build and our shortage of funds is now quite a little scene. At that point I quickly surveyed the premises for a manhole as I just wanted to jump in one and pull the cover over. None were to be found and soon we took what was left of the now demnished order and high-tailed it for the closest exit. By the way Debbie through all of this is starting to laugh and Nastya joined the bandwagon. I have never seen Nastya laugh so hard, as we were walking along she was kind of mimicing me at the market, digging in panic for more money to no avail. I finally gave in and realized I might as well laugh as cry. Just then something like a bee sting took me just above the knee, I estimated it to be very close to the scar tissue from the earlier encounter with the manhole. I quickly realized that the aggresive swinging of the grocery bags had caused one of the shishkobob sticks to pierce the outer bag and then proceed to pierce my knee cap. At this Nastya got even more spastic and went into further hysterics as I limped along for a few moments recovering from my shiskabob wound.
As I looked back over all that had just happened I tried to recall a more embarrasing moment for me and the only one that came flooding back was running out of gas in my boat on the maiden voyage to Crawley's last summer. Glen Cook and a host of others have never let me live it down.
Well enough for now , if it takes some embarrising moments to bring about more bonding and laughs then bring it on. There may be another post later today, we'll see??
I want to thank you all for the great comments, I know we say it all the time, but we mean it every time. We truly look forward to each and every one, even if its a shot from my cousin Joe it brings news from home our way. Thanks by the way Don for the update on sports as well. Take care, love Randy and Debbie

Sounds like quite a day you have had.
I can't believe you were looking for a manhole!!! I thought your first experience with one would have been sufficient. hahaha
